#20 Cooper's Hawk
Accipiter cooperii
IUCN Redlist: Least Concern
Location: Victoria, BC, Canada
Time: 1210 PDT April 22 2011
I hope I've got this one right. The most likely other possibility is a sharp-shinned hawk, and I went with Cooper's hawk due to size - this bird was in a tree with a crow, and was very similar in size. According to the wonderful Sibley Field Guide to Birds of Western North America the Cooper's hawk is about the same size as a crow, while the sharp-shinned hawk is noticeably smaller. If you know your raptors, please let me know what you think.
